Announcing Our New Co-Founders!
New faces, same mission: safeguarding the future from pandemics
As part of our successful pilot and spin-out from Oxford Biosecurity Group, we have formed a team of scientists, researchers, academics and policy makers who are all dedicated to reducing the burden on society from pandemics.
In this post we are delighted to introduce our two new co-founders: Wasim Sajjad and Miranda Smith!
Wasim Sajjad
Wasim is a visiting scientist at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, as well as a Fulbright Scholar. He holds a PhD in Microbiology from Quaid-i-Azam University and brings his vast experience working on antimicrobial resistance. He is a Biosecurity Champion Fellow with Health Security Partners and Youth for Biosecurity UNODA.
He is passionate about continuing his work on Biosecurity Policy and contributing to the forecasting community.
Miranda Smith
Miranda has a Doctor of Pharmacy from Texas Tech and has a Msc in International Relations and National Security from Troy University. She specialises in medical countermeasures for Chem-Bio threats, with experience working within US government, military service and USAID as the Senior BioDefence Advisor.
In her free time, Miranda is an avid reader and scuba diver.
While we remain deeply committed to predicting, modelling, and reducing biosecurity threats, we’re currently in the process of refining our priorities within this mission. With our diverse team bringing together a wealth of experience across sectors, countries, and disciplines, we’re excited for what’s ahead.
As part of this evolution, we may be updating our name, logo, and branding to better reflect our renewed focus. We’ll also be sharing a post soon to introduce our incredible team. So please stay tuned for our newsletter announcements, or find out more on our website.
